Fine rubies are the most expensive of all gems (with the one exception - very rare colored diamonds, such as red).

Diamonds are a very expensive gem. But there are no true "conflict free" diamonds. the "Kimberly" contract doesn't mean a damned thing. There is MO guarantee that a diamond didn't come from a conflict zone. ALL diamonds are "blood diamonds". Truth is there are tons of diamonds so they shouldn't be so expensive, but the regulatory copmitees only release a small amount of them to drive up the cost. if you like the look and the feel, go with Moissanite. Bella jewlery is a good place.

Diamonds are the most expensive per carat overall, generally speaking. It helps that diamonds are actually fairly common, and the price is pushed by demand rather than supply.
That being said, large, flawless emeralds and rubies with deep color can become much more expensive than diamonds. Alexandrites and Tanzanites can also become quite expensive in large sizes.

well you're right, the emerald is more valuable by weight. although diamonds have the interesting trait of being one of the hardest objects in the world (10 on the hardness scale), theyre also pretty common for a gem.
but the emerald (7.5 on the scale) is quite rare and more expensive
; ) have fun telling your bf

look dear quality along with the way the natural diamond is cuted is more important because its value directly depends on its finish and yes natural diamonds are more expensive

I'm not sure, but I can't think of any type of gem that's worth more
so I'd say probably

by the way, that was a great movie wasn't it?
