Easiest way is to soak them overnight in hot water & detergent. Most labels will just float right off. Stubborn ones may require some vinegar added to water, and a paint scraper to remove the residue.
Alternatively, there are commercial adhesive dissolvers available at Home Depot & similar stores.

I found that the easiest way to get the labels and glue stuff off bottles is to put the bottle label side down (or the entire bottle) in a sink of hot water for a few minutes..the label should peal off easy, and the glue should also be easy to remove while still hot. I have also heard that nail polish remover works well to remove the glue from bottles.

Avon Skin so Soft works great.
If you don't have any, soak the label in water then use fingernail polish remover to get the glue off. You'd be wise to get a bottle of the Skin so Soft because it's good for a lot of things.

After you soak it in hot water and peel off the labels, you can wipe off the glue with any oil, it will come out easily. Good luck

To get the glue off, lighter fluid on a piece of paper towel works great. Takes that sticky glue right off.

You don't say if you want to save the label ( such as a wine bottle label ). If you want to save it go to this web site. http://www.wineultra.com. Once there, click on wine accessories an scroll to wine label remover & tags. If you just want to remove the label, any of the other answers will do the job for you.

I soak them in warm soapy water. There is some stuff called Goo Gone that you can buy almost any where that is specific for that purpose.

Use a blow dryer. Don't get the bottle or glass to hot just warm. It works quick and it is also dry.
