An exclusive bouquet of flowers from some specialty store. The color of the flowers should go with the gender of the person who is having a birthday. A bottle of wine or champagne or whatever the person likes and a card ( in which you personally write what you mean to say) would be perfect

Bake something like a cake, plate of cookies, pie, or fudge brownies.
People with new homes don't have alot of time to cook so they would REALLY appreciate a gift like this and it doens't break the bank for your you.
It's also more persoanl than something bought at a store. It comes from your heart not your Visa account.

Personalize a serving tray with their last name on it. Monogram glasses with the initial of their first or last name. Bath towels with their names or initials.
People love to see their names in writing. My sister give me a kitchen clock for Christmas, and printed on the face of the clock was my first name ' Toni Kitchen'.

A birthday gift for a homewarming? How magical. It depends whose birthday it is and who is homewarming.
A set of shot or martini glasses or shaker and accessories might be nice.
