When I asked my doctor why I was having a miscarriage, he explained it was like planting seeds in the dirt, some of them take and some of them don't. Nature has a way of taking care of itself.

Most first trimester miscarriages are due to a genetic defect in the developing fetus, and there is nothing that can be done to stop them. As sad as it is to experience one, in the long run it is better to lose a deformed baby early on, rather than carry to full term and deliver a baby that will die right after birth. Some miscarriages are caused by illness or trauma to the mothers body, some caused by a malformed uterus, some by harmful drugs taken by the mother. I hope this will answer some of you questions.

Any number of things:
The most common miscarriage is the early one, and that usually results because of a "blighted ovum" (something wrong right from conception).
Problems with the prenatal environment or problems with the fetus cause other miscarriages.

Despite lots of research, medical science is still not sure - just as it is not sure what causes premature birth - basically a later form of miscarriage. The causes are many, some are known, and many more are still just unknown.

When I asked my doctor about it, she said that miscarriage normally occurs because the developing embryo is abnormal in some way.

there is no actual known cause, sometimes it jsut happens, sometimes the mother is careless and drinks and does drugs and those kinds of things, but most miscarriages happen on their own and no one really knows why.
hope this isnt happening to you, hope all is well and good luck.

The others are right, there is no one reason why it happens. I lost my first little bubs in the early stages and i just have to belive he/she was lost for a reason. I have now a wonderful little baby boy but you never forget your lost ones.

some foods can bring it on, apple cider vinager for example.
also the stress of being pregnant, sometimes the body just can't handle it or if you're picking up really heavy things...etc.
Sometimes it's just not the right time to be pregnant and so your body rejects it....
