I'm from the NW Usa. An English girl I got to know compared me to Irish guys. I've been wondering what she meant. In the states the Irish stereotype is a drinker and a fighter. I drink sparingly and I don't fight at the drop of a hat. Do the English have a different stereotype? What was her point?

We got on very well, but I know she had a low opinion of the Irish.

Erm, well I guess you would say that the Irish drink and fight. But normally people stereotype Irish people as being a bit stupid. I.e. We have these jokes which involve 'an Englishman, and Irishman and a Scotsman' and the Irishman always ends up doing something stupid.
This might not be what she means though. An alternative suggestion would be that she means you're kinda fun and carefree.
It depends whether she said it as an insult or not!

She seems pretty confusing to what she was speaking about in her question. If you decide to date her, DON"T she sounds like a loser and that maybe she does not even like you either. She is stereotyping and has no idea what she is talking about. I saw you you look attractive and you can find someone better!
Good Luck
