I think they get overrated during the season, which causes them to go into bowl games they have no business being in. They shouldn't of played in the Sugar Bowl last night. LSU was a much MUCH better team. There were much more deserving teams. I would've loved to see Rutgers or West Virginia in that game. Maybe even Wisconsin or Arkansas. Notre Dame will be okay, they've got some good young kids there and more good young kids coming in, but until they have the talent to match their hype they'll keep getting mopped in bowl games.

The bowl losses only go to show that ND has not had a top 5 or championship level team since all of those losses came to teams that were ranked much higher than them. Plus, by saying ND football is "dead" you are obviously one of the people who believe the historical hype surrounding their program and basically that if they aren't winning championships then they should just disband them football team. The fact is that over the past 10 years they have had a few different coaches and have had maybe a top 20 or top 15 ranked team but not a top5 or championship team. Sorry if I sound rude.

Notre Dame football isn't dead, but it's on life support now. As good of a job as Charlie Weis has done, without a bowl win or a win over a major team (USC or Michigan, and now LSU) this team cannot truly return to the days of it's past glory.

I don't know for sure but it is not a good sign. Weis doesn't seem to be recruiting good and that is what college football is all about. So it will take a couple more years to know for sure. I don't think Weis is the genius everybody claimed he was.
The recruiting class was ranked #5 last year

This year it is at number 7 so if he can't win in next two years ND will again be looking for a new coach.

They need to act like a real football team and join a conference. They are overated and would finish 7th or 8th in the SEC.

They're not recruiting size or speed, two things you can't teach, and it's killing them (not that I'm sorry about that fact). LSU was faster and bigger, and Notre Dame couldn't handle it.

Bowl losses don't mean they're struggling, but they are on hard times by their own standards.
