Yes.

We have lost all credibility.
It will be a very long time before we get that back and that would be conditional on us not pulling a stunt like this again.

If a Arab country nukes Israel there is no long term. Also the occupaytion of Iraq could end quickly with a very big bright light.
The bigger question is. Who would give the Arabs a reason to nuke another country as a first stike?

Absolutely.

I think that if we are seen as failing, or worse yet retreating, and deserting the Iraqis we promised to help, it will solidify the notion that America lacks the will to fight. People will be reassured that it's relatively free of cost to be our enemy, but very risky to be our friend.

Many, many more Americans will die in the future if we "stop the war" without succeeding.

It's not really relevant now why we went in. TODAY, We are fighting Islamist radicals there and need to defeat them.

Of course. Iraq will be our last imperialist war. After Bush admits defeat, foreign policy will become much less important and we will deal with the social and economic problems we have at home, instead of trying to force the whole world to be like us.

i think it weakens our pull in the world. nobody wants to talk about peace with a country that needlessly invades another country. we lost our negotiation advantage. it also makes the other countries hate us even more, making it more and more difficult to compromise with them. nobody wants to cooperate with a bully.
