Go to your doctor, he will check your medical history, take your blood pressure and maybe run a blood test (not done by every doctor), but will give you a prescription the same day in most cases. It isnt difficult and nothing to be worried about;

You will need to see your regular doc. If you have already had your yearly pap/pelvic exam recently the doc won't need to do that again but if you haven't had it yet this year (past 12 months) the doc will probably want to do your pap/pelvic exam. The does not do any other testing and he will write you a script for whatever type of birth control you decide to use. Be sure he gives you specific directions on how to use them and when to start them etc. If the doc doesn't tell you how to use them then speak up and ASK before you leave his office. All to often I see posts on her asking how do I take my birth control I just got them etc. The person to ask is your DOCTOR BEFORE you leave his/her office.

If you are or are going to become sexually active, you should make an appt with an ob/gyn. They will give you an exam and also talk to you privately about birth control. They will give you a prescription. You don't need any tests but different pills have different hormone levels, so your doctor will decide which one is best for you. If you have questions about different birth control methods, they can answer them for you.
Don't be worried! It's no big deal, believe me.

WHY are you "really worried"?? Millions of women do this every day. It's no big deal.
You need to go to your GYN. You will need a pelvic exam and a pap smear. They will also do a pregnancy test to make sure that you aren't pregnant now. They don't want to give a woman birth control and then find out a few weeks later that she was pregnant when she started. Even if you say you aren't pregnant--they'll will check to make sure.

If you are having sex you should have been visiting an Obgyn...At your first visit it may be a little scary, because you dont know what to expect...The doctor will give you a couple test, one of these test will be a Papsmear, you will be okay...The doctor will prescribe the best birthcontrol for your body...Good Luck!!

Dont be worried , Its really easy. Yes you have to go to doctor or Planned parenthood. Either one . Then you get a prescription and the Doctor will tell you how to take it. Usually you take the first pill on the first day of your period and one a day (at same time) each day afterwards.Sometimes they make you feel sick at first but this will go away after the first month. Good Luck.

No need to worry. Since you are 24, you should already have a gynecologist that you see once a year, unless your general practitioner does your yearly pelvic exam. So, make an appointment with your doctor and get your prescription.

a normal dr can give them to you, but they don't really like to. You need to go to an OBGYN to get them---(don't know if you have been, but its not that bad!) The only tests I had were a pap smear and the general exam and I got them so its not really a huge deal.....

You will need to make an appointment with an OBGYN. After the exam you can talk with him about what forms of birthcontrol you are interested in. If you go to the link I attached below you can read up on all of your options.

You will definitely have to have a Pap Smear before they will allow you to start taking the pill. I suggest Planned Parenthood. I have tried them in two cities and they are great. Even after I got insurance I still went back to them. The pills are not expensive. The exam might be $ but they are nice, professional women that will answer your questions You are not the first person scared or in the dark that walks through their doors with questions.
