I think there is a deliberate effort by the government controlled media to bash the French here in the U.S. I hear it all the time, and I think the reason they do it is because France represents free thinking, which they despise. Don't worry - there are many of us here who know better than to hate someone based on where they are from. Peace.

I'm an American, and I don't hate the French. I can say, though, that Americans feel the same way about the French. We feel that the French hate us. We're always hearing horrible things being said about us. (That we're fat, we're lazy, we're rude, etc.) I've spent time in France, and I live in the U.S., and I can tell you, there really isn't that much of a difference between our people. There are some Americans who are fat, lazy, and rude, but there are also some French people who are fat, lazy, and rude. The majority of Americans are brilliant, and beautiful, and kind, and generous, and the majority of people in France are, too. Everywhere you go, you're going to find good people, and bad people. I think we're wasting so much time pointing out the worst in each other. We're all human. Let's just try to be friends, and be supportive of each other, not constantly criticizing each other. Enough of the childish nonsense, everyone!

haha WELL, as an American, I'm sure you're just misinterpreting the obnoxious "I'm better than all of you" American attitude that I'm embarrassed to say exists. Luckily, we aren't all like this! Sorry for the bad experiences! If that's NOT the case, I'd also say that Americans think the French are rude as well--so it kind of goes both ways. When I visited France, if I asked question in English, they'd answer in French. If I asked a question in French, they'd answer in English. C'est la vie.

Wow, I'm sorry but I'd have to disagree. When I was in France, we were really nice to people that we met and we expirienced nothing but rude behavior from the French. We tried not to take it personally because it seemed like they just hated everyone.
Maybe this hating eachother thing is all just a big misunderstanding???? I don't know.

You got it backwards...having been to France, I left there wondering what was wrong with me that I got such an attitude from any given french person simply because I spoke English and NOT French.
Then again, they don't seem to mind the Irish....after all, the Irish hate the English too!

I think that many Americans dislike the French because they feel they have been less than supportive and sometimes critical of us during wartimes (for example they didnt support us going to Iraq) Many americans also feel that the french owe us because we helped them out in WWII and they resent the French being so critical and not helping out now. I am not sure i entirely agree with all of that but thier attitude has been less than appreciated as of late.

All humans get pushed around and have to struggle to maintain their self-esteem. As you know, many try to compensate for their own lack of self-esteem, by trying to make others look small. But behaving that way toward others, only makes them feel more like POOP!
