Fraternal twinning occurs when a woman releases more than one egg during ovulation -- your partner's status as a twin or your partner's family history of twinning is irrelevant.
If your partner is an identical twin: science generally still sticks by its position that identical twinning is a random event, but there's enough anecdotal evidence to indicate that the jury is still out on that one. Since the "official" word on ID twinning is that it's random, there isn't any data on the male role.
As far as your chance of carrying twins, there are numerous factors which do "raise" your chances -- populations of women who have a greater chance of conceiving twins. These include: women who use certain fertility drugs; women between 35 and 40; women with a family history of fraternal twins (and no, twinning doesn't skip generations, that's just a myth that has since been debunked); women who have had a lot of prior pregnancies; and recent studies have concluded that women with a higher BMI, and women who are "taller," also have an increased chance of having twins.

Twins is not something that runs in the family. It is said that twins generally skips to every 3 generations, however that is just a calculation. Twins are made by either the passing of 2 eggs that both were fertilized or one egg splitting into two. Either one can happen at any time. A friend of mine had 2 sets of twins back to back within 2 years.

Twins are genetic, but only from the mother's side. The woman is the one who has to drop two eggs in one month in order to have twins. The male sperm just fertilizes the egg. But, you could always have identical twins, that is just a freak thing that happens when the egg splits after fertilization. Sometimes, women have fraternal twins even though no one in there families has had them. But, it is more likely if previous generations have had twins. Trust me though, you DO NOT want twins. One is harder than anything you will ever do in your life, I don't see how some people handle twins.

The man has no effect on whether or not a woman has twins. If fraternal twins runs on the MOTHERS side, she has an increased risk of twins. Identical twins are not inherited.
Think of it this way, if a man was responsible for twins women would be having huge litters of children because they produce millions of sperm. Women only produce one egg, or on a rare occasion two which can only result in as many babies as there are eggs.

I think it has everything to do with the female and not so much the male. The woman has the egg. If twins run in the woman's side of the family you have a better chance of conceiving twins.

The heredity factor for twins occurs on the mother's side. The likelyhood of the egg splitting (identical twins) or more than one egg fertilizing (fraternal twins) is carried in the female gene. So, only if twins run on the mother's side would there be an increased chance of conceiving more than one child.
Of course, anything is possible! GOOD LUCK!

The chance of having twins is determined by maternal heritage. So look at the females in your side of the family.

Yes, there is a chance, if someone else in your family has had twins, even if it's your partner, there is a chance that you will have twins as well.

To the best of my understanding, the only type of twins that tend to run in families is fraternal; and I am under the impression any link usually involves the mother's side.
Since it is your husband rather than you who is the twin that could make the difference.
Here/s a decent link:
