Of course there are mistakes, and some people never learn from them. Referring to a mistake as a learning experience is ridiculous unless there actually is a learning experience. But it is used as a lame excuse, and some people trick others with words.

You can learn from your mistakes - so that makes your mistakes, a learning experience.
However, I think a mistake still can be considered a mistake even though you learn from your mistake. Although, sometimes people don't learn from their mistakes and just keep repeating them. I think this is very true - it's a pattern of their life.

Learning from your mistakes is a great lesson, but what about the mistakes that don't offer any kind of insight? Life would be grand if we all gleaned this great altering knowledge from our mistakes. Yet, I've made mistakes. Stupid, dumb stuff that sometimes I wish I had done different. Not the mistakes where I've learned things about myself, but the others....the ones that didn't reflect who I am at all.

Everything is a learning experience in my opinion....I don't think there are mistakes or coincidences, simply the will of God. While many people will disagree with me, I do believe this to be true for all things.

No, i have made many, that turn out to be good in the long run. Just live and learn, that is the only mistake, if you don't learn from them.

i think it's a choice of wording. one can easily learn from a mistake. it seems "mistake" has a negative connotation and is frowned upon, like nothing good can be gained from it, so we turn it around and call it a "learning experience".
it reminds me of when they ask you in a job interview what your weaknesses are and you are supposed to say something like, "well i see them as opportunities for improvement."
in other words, i think it's all up to what the person wants to make of it. if i'm making any sense at all at this delicate, late hour. :)

It's only a mistake if you don't stop at the stop sign and a cop see you! Bet you learn from that real fast!

I see mistakes as learning experiences, and hopefully I don't repeat the same mistake twice. (But it happens, because we're human.) From what I've seen, some people never learn...But oh well, it's their life not mine. :D
