when I'm nervous I try to use up some of that energy. I purposely fidget, make 20 trips to the bathroom or whatever it takes. This assumes that I'm waiting nervously for something to happen like making a presentation or something.
If I think I'm going to be nervous when I'm doing something then I try to practice and visualize the presentation or whatever until I feel like I know how it's supposed to go. I'll be nervous up until the time, and then because I've practiced it so much, while it's happening it just goes away.

Examine what it is exactly that is making you nervous, and decide whether you want to confront it or ignore it. I always try to confront it, meet it head on and overcome the issue. If it's a person that makes you nervous, decide if it's worth it to feel this way. Talk to them and realize they're a human being just like you. If it's a task, maybe have someone help you through it the first time for support, build up your confidence. Most of all, just remember you can do anything if you put your mind to it.

Simple...analyse what makes you nervous....Is it, for example, interview or exam situation when you feel that you might not be knowing something...well, then tell yourself that at the last minute there's nothing much you can do and getting nervous for that will not take you anywhere.
And if you get nervous for no apparent reason, then it is sheer foolishness.
Moral: Focus your mind on your plus points (if you have).

Develop a mantra, a couple of words you can say over and over to calm yourself. Meditate. Drink tea without caffeine. Exercise. Find hobbies to keep your mind preoccupied. Hang out with family and friends.

The best thing to do is just keep doing things that scare you! Eventually - though you may still be nervous - you will get used to it.
Also I try not to think something until it's actually upon me then there's no time to get worked up.
