Let me see Bush, the war in Iraq, why is the light taking so, why is there a line, how come he/she doesn't call me back. I could list tons of examples. Instead of these things why don't people worry about things they do have control over and make the best life you can for yourself?

Yes, I agree that misery loves company. I know that for myself, *I* complain only about things beyond my control, b/c the things that I CAN control, I do what I think is the best strategy possible to produce the best possible outcome. If anything bad happens that IS in my control, I don't complain about it b/c I humbly realize that it was my own stupidity, so I have no room to talk. But if stuff happens BEYOND my control, I complain as a way of venting and expressing how much I feel that I've been wronged or injusticed. Venting is great b/c it allows me to get rid of a lot of the bottled-up anger/frustration that I feel. Also, I complain about stuff happening beyond my control, b/c I can get away with complaining without having to hear someone say "well that is your own fault" or "then you shoulda done this instead."

Good point, Some peoples lives are so shallow. Half the time they don't even know what they are complaining or worrying about. If they put that energy into something positive their lives would be more fulfilled

people will complain about things either because they think that if they complain they can get attention. or because they are scared of the unknown "what will happen next" "will death be involved" questions like this tend to scare people and sometimes when talk about stuff you don't know that you are complaining you just think that you are talking about it when other people think otherwise !!!

To complain is an attempt to influence others who do have control or influence the opinion of someone who know someone who knows someone who has control.

If they do it out of the blue, then they're bore.
If somebody asked their opinion, then they're just spilling their thought.
If somebody in their life were affected by the things, they're trying to fix it.
If they're unstable, they're just trying to rationalize thing and stabilize .
