why are some people obsessed...literally, with trying in vain to convince people that "rap is crap". Now if they want to say that most rap is garbage fine, i agree. But anything that is put together in a way to appeal to the modern mainstream is going to be superficial. If there was a kind of metal that became mainstream nowadays it would no doubt be extremely diluted by the standard of pure metal. The same thing is the case with rap. The best rappers and rap music is comparatively invisible. I propose that we end the bitterness and the phrase "rap is crap" be replaced with the phrase "most rap is crap". If you do that then i will start saying "only SOME metal singers worship the devil and scream instead of sing".

Metal heads consider their music not only something they listen to but a complete lifestyle. It is very precious to us and most of us play an instrument that took us a very long time to master. I think the problem most Metal heads have with Rap is the fact that there isn't a lot of musical skill or knowledge required to become successful. All you need is an attitude and a posse who run around the stage repeating random words you have just said. Plus alot of commercial raps subject matter is pretty shallow and superficial where as a lot of true Metal bands write songs with social commentary or weighty personal or political messages. So it is a case of musicality and substance over ripped off samples, plagiarism and lyrics about bling, women and money!
The people who spit out stupid phrases like "rap is Crap' have no originality and are probably just dumb kids with limited vocabulary. I understand that Rap is something that grew out of a scene that helps people express them selves but i think we are in a state of overkill at the moment don't you all?
Rap and Hip/Hop will mutate and become less popular like all fads do but Rock and Metal will never change and will always be popular as they have been since the late 1960's. As Tenacious D said.."You can't kill the METAL!"

Rap and rock, are fundamentally different mediums for people to express themselves.

Rap is focused on the words, delivering them to a beat and rhyming or forming phrases in intricate/complex ways, and usually tells a story of some kind, so to get the most out of it, you have to listen to it. The music on a track keeps the beat, and is meant to compliment the words. This is why Jay-Z does not usually release instrumental versions of his music.

Rock and metal artists, on the other hand, usually focus on the music being played. Just try to figure out some of the lyrics being growled at a Pantera concert. Without the lyrics on the CD, you'd be hard pressed to know what the song is about. Instead, the emphasis is on the music, the guitar solo, the bass line, the drums, etc.

Now this is not to say that there isn't a lot of good music on rap tracks, and that there aren't a lot of great lyrics in rock music. The great thing about music is that it does not conform to rules. And sometimes the two genres cross over, for example, Limp Biskit, Kid Rock and Public Enemy come to mind.

Of course, that's just my opinion, I may be wrong.

Good Question, My Friend.
These Two Genres Are The Exactly Opposite Genres, Also Metal Ruled in The Last 10's But The ****ing Rap Has Ruled in This 10's.
RAP IS CRAP.

Rap's referrences to violence, drugs, gangs, prostitution, etc., seem to hinder my respect for the music. Sometimes the fact that those guys get into a gun fight during their rap career doesn't help either. It hasn't really changed much, nor will it because that is the background most of them have come from. Music wise,...I like cool rap and hip-hop beats but do not find it necessary to shake the windows of cars driving by me. As for rock, I'll agree that I also find growling, angry devil worshippers disturbing. Now, ...I play the drums and enjoy playing to metal type of music, but the lyrics and screaming could easily be removed from most of those bands. I prefer the hard rock/metal band with a singer who can carry a tune. It is a lot easier for a rapper to get into a fight with a gang mentioned in the lyrics, than it is for a metal group to get into a fight with the devil mentioned in their lyrics. One is realtime and the other is not. Most rap is crap, but I find a few ok. Not all metal is great either, but I prefer the singers with melodies in the hard rock.

in all probability because of the fact some rock, metallic, and so on followers in easy terms get to take heed to those poorly written rap songs that are very regularly occurring and obtainable. they only can not help it on condition that those songs are everywhere. I hear to rock music and that i don't hate rap music. I do merely not hear to it. i'm beneficial that rap music has meaning. via very own adventure there are some rap followers obtainable hating on rock, metallic, and so on music for the comparable motives... be conscious how the bands you have reported are regularly occurring?

Because they're close minded jackoffs who are afraid of other peoples opinions. Even the phrase "most rap is crap" is ridiculous. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it's crap. I don't listen to metal, but I don't go around saying "metal sucks" and "all metal is garbage."

People are entitled to like different types of music, that's why it's out there. If you don't like something, don't listen to it, don't talk about it, the fact that some people are so hell bent on spouting the whole "rap is crap" mantra is quite pathetic.

And in all seriousness, you don't see any metal on t.v. anymore, and there's A LOT of rap music on t.v., so most people would surmise that more metal is crap than rap.

i am a full on goth and i really do dislike rap. it's all about sex and drugs and bling and i honestly think it's a pathetic genre of music. if rap was about different things then i might like it. and btw, i completely admit to the fact that metal singers scream instead of sing but worship the devil.. well, a couple but i know a alot of them and they're really just avaerage guys.

Rap can go along well with some rock and metal. But some metal is extremely diluted, like metallica. I have lost respect for metallica because i look at them as a bunch of sell outs

I agree I do not love rap but some of it is okay but hard metal fans always turn it down. I am sorry but hard metal rock is horriable and all they do is scream. I do not really like rap either but we need to keep open minds. Right? "Most rap is crap" is a good saying.

Most rap is crap, but it's easier to say rap is crap, meaning that the majority of it is. The rap industry is dominated by male chauvinists and sexpots. And you're right, the best rappers are overlooked and replaced by Snoop and Fitty. It's insane.
