LCD screens pose no threat of magnetic or whatever emissions whilst in use, mind you most CRT's since the early 90's have posed little or no threat.

.....however Some LCD's have some very nasty chemicals inside which can cause problems if broken or not disposed properly

Yes it does pose much less of a threat! It also is a LOT easier on my eyes and I'm not going blind as fast as I was when I used a CRT (actually, my vision is about the same as when I switched. Thank goodness! I'm still young!)
