A lot of things that are addictive and harmful are legal.

This one is easy. MONEY. The tobacco industry makes billions of dollars a year off of giving people lung cancer. A big chunk of that money goes toward supporting government officials and their campaign costs so that they will be allowed to continue to make their death sticks, which make them billions of dollars more. If you are a government official, why would you make a law that would eliminate all the money you are getting?
I'm not saying I think it is ok. I think it is wrong. But that is what is happening, and that is why those harmful ingredients are legal.

Almost anything over-consumed is harmful and life-taking. As for addictive, the problem tends to be with the addictive personality, not the item: People being addicted to porn, Internet, gambling, etc., do not need ingredients to hook them either.

Because tobacco companies are conglomerates that control the goverment with heafty bribes and have always done so in order to continue their harmful business. Ask yourself this, being overweight kills more people then cigaretts nowadays...so should products that make people fatter be allowed to be sold???Personal choices people make, you cant take that away from them but yet they take away our choice to smoke marijuana or do some cocaine or heroin...riddle me this batman

why is anything dangerous legal? would you like someone to tell you everything to do or control your actions? should we only be allowed to sit in a chair our whole lives? any action we take or product consumed can kill us.
