Power On Self Test means; what are the methods of identification of the computer problem. Please explain.

The POST is actually performed by the BIOS, and through its generated beep codes might give you a general idea of errors, other than the BIOS of course. There are cards know as POST cards or POST readers that generate either 2 or 4 digit codes associated with more complex POST codes. These codes however are not direct indicators of hardware failures but rather they are tags inserted by BIOS programmers for the purpose of debugging their code.

When you power on the system you will hear a series of BEEPS if there is a problem. These are known as BIOS BEEP CODES and will translate into what the actual problem is.

yep, you have the right definition of post. if you remove the memory, video card, bios chip, or processor which are critical items from your system, post will tell by beeping. like morse code. one short beep and two long beeps etc. this codes change depending on your motherboard model but you can look up online your motherboard on the manufacture site and it will give you the codes.
