just call your doctor, did you only take one? or you can call a pharmacist and they may be able to tell you more about the reaction of the pill and the effect would be. I am sure you are fine but make the calls to ease your mind.

Its probably because the vitamins you took have vitamin A in them - thats not recommended for use in pregnancy as high amounts can harm the baby.

I took some multivitamins when I first got pregnant which had vitamin A in them. I stopped as soon as I found out you shouldn't take Vitamin A when pregnant so I hadn't actually taken that many. Anyway, my son was born five weeks ago and he's fine.

If you just took one tablet I very much doubt it would do any harm, its only likely to cause harm to the baby if you take large amounts of vitamin A over a long period. One tablet isn't going to do any damage.

Its best to take specially formulated prenatal vitamins designed for pregnant women - these don't have vitamin A and they have all the right amounts of the most needed vitamins and minerals like Folic Acid and Iron. I know it can be really hard to get all you need from food when pregnant - especially if you are tired or suffering from morning sickness, and thats why most women use prenatal vitamins, just to make sure their baby gets all they need. I took prenatal vitamins all the way through my pregnancy (and my diet wasn't great) and my son is a picture of health!!

Speak to your doctor or midwife just to out your mind at rest.

It was probably just because the vitamin contains vitamin A. While this should be avoided by pregnant women, the levels have to be quite high to cause a problem. In addition, there are literally only a few cases where vitamin A has caused a problem in pregnancy in the last 30 years.
Most manufactures err on the side of caution, and put 'not to be taken by pregnant' women on a wide range of products. This doesn't necessarily mean they are harmful, just that they are unproven.
Stick to prenatal vitamins from now on, but try not to worry.

If you took one (you didn't say which one and what dosage), you'll be ok. Vitamins in geneal are there to make us feel better and healthier. Vitamins and minerals and derived from natural sources and thats why they are good for us and that's why we take them. Overall they advise against it in pregnancy because they encourage you to gain all the goodness from the food you are consuming as this is the best way to ensure your child is growing healthy, also certain vitamins if taken in large dosage can prevent the absorbtion of other minerals and vitamins. So do not worry, it is only long term that this could have an effect (or not at all), chill, you will both be ok.

From your question it is not clear whether you took in one vitamin or have been taken them regularly for 25 weeks. If only one then there is no need to worry about but if regularly for 25 weeks then you should contact your health visitor or your midwife. Usually, a midwife will provide a pregnant woman with the information on which food is not to have during pregnancy. In relation to vitamins you should ask your midwife asap. Generally, it is better to have a good balanced diet rather then taking in any supplements unless advised by your midwife or GP. Lets not panic and see you midwife tomorrow. Till then check this link to see whether there is a real need to worry. http://www.babyworld.co.uk/information/pregnancy/health/eating/vitamina.asp

If youre concerned call your local poison control number, or your OB/midwife.

Generally with vitamins and minerals you need to take them for a couple weeks for them to build up levels in your body. Pregnant women shouldnt take vitamins that are high in vitamin A, or have high levels of certain heavy metals. One does probably wont make a difference at all.

call your dr or pharmasist to let them know exactly what happened. Be sure to have the name and all the info of the vitamin because they are going to need this information on order to help you. Hopefully everything works out. From now on stick to your prenantals.

The ONLY vitamins you should be taking are prenatal. If you had only one, it shouldn't do much. Any real concerns call a nurse at your doctor's office and she should let you know what you need to do or whatever.

Call your doctor. Have your box with you so you can tell him exactly what you have taken and then see what he says. From now on I'd be a little more careful.

I think they are talking long term use. I don't think you need to worry about this. It might be that a build up of this vitamin might cause problems long term.
