Depends on how well the two people hit it off. I went out with one woman and later that night we were gettting busy. We ended up being a couple for almost 8 years. Another, we waited to make sure we were right for each other. I got used to the waiting and it stopped bothering me and she got tired of waiting so we ended up breaking up. And I've had several in between.
My advice is that the two need to go with their feelings. If everything feels right on the first date, go for it (but remember there is no rush). I would avoid people that use, "The Rules". A book written mostly for women that tells then what steps a guy needs to complete before advancing to the next level. Just be honest. It's the best policy for starting a new relationship. If you just want sex, tell her, maybe that all she wants. If you want a relationship, tell her that also.
