What is this?

I know this may sound silly but this is a serious question.. My male friend drools in his sleep. Well it dries up as a yellow stain on the pillow and it smells funky. What could this be?

P.S. He is not have a cold!!

saliva, normally from poor hygiene.put something in his mouth.

It could just be caused by the pH of his mouth. What he could try is brushing with a toothpaste that has baking soda in it. Baking soda is a neutralizer. And also using a mouth wash to help kill the bacteria in his mouth. And he needs to drink lots and lots of water.
