Why can't models listen to music?

I watch America's Next Top Model in Hong Kong every Sunday, 8:30pm. And I was watching this episode, that shows you all these scenes that weren't shown to public audience before. And I also saw the part where Megg was crying at the crazy hair photo shoot, because the judges didn't allow the models to listen to any music.

Why's that? Can you tell me why? Why can't models listen to music?

The reason she was not allowed to listen is because at most photo shoots, you do not get to have everything that you want. If Megg could only take a good picture if she was listening to rock, then she was a lousy model. A model has to be able to perform and take a good picture no matter the circumstance. In that episode, the music was a crutch for her. Once they took it away, she crumbled.

It's kind of like if someone had to get a lollipop in order to focus on a photoshoot. It's childish.

All of the 'next top model' shows make the models do crazy stuff - like wear purposefully hideous outfits and go out in public, or restrict what they can do arbitrarily. There are also legitimate reasons - maybe they don't want them using headphones because they don't want them scratching their makeup or messing with their hair, or the communication systems will interact with any stereo. Still, sometimes they just make them do weird things and control them to get an idea of what modeling is about - controlling the models. Anyone who cries because she can't listen to music isn't mentally stable, and that's part of what they're weeding out.

Models can listen to music. I just think that there was a reason they didnt want her to listen to it that day on the show.

Maybe it makes them nervous or models dislike it naturally
