I agree that it does taste better out of a glass. My idea is that the glass preserves the product in the pure way it was intended without adding or taking away any of it's orginal flavor or carbonation level.

Cans are used because they cut down on shipping weight/cost.

You know, I think I will enjoy a beverage right now.

Actually, fountain coke tastes even better. And even the canned one tastes really good.

Usually, when you buy those 1.5 or 2 litre plastic bottles; you use them and put them away in the fridge or something- basically the carbon dioxide goes out and this is why it tastes different.

Even when you pour coke in a glass- the carbon dioxide runs out- and it tastes different.

Try drinking fountain coke, or coke in a can (not pouring it into a glass) - and don't leave it for some time as well... I mean just drink it !!

Glass bottled Coca-Cola is imported, mostly from Mexico, and they use pure cane sugar. The US uses a cheaper sweetener, high fructose corn syrup.

It's because of the chemical content of the plastic. Glass is basically 100% natural, and has no 'taste' to it, but plastic is made up of various different man made chemicals, that taste of which gets into the coke.

I've often wondered that myself. I love Coke out of a glass bottle even though I'm not much of a soda drinker. It's like their stronger and don't go flat but in the can they don't last long.

I think it has something to do with the can itself, and the chemical that they spray in it to keep the carbonic acid from actually eating the aluminum can. Just a hunch. ; )
