I'm tired of hearing how proud Mexicans are proud to be Mexican....felizidades a todos que son mexicanos pero...get over yourselves. Do you not understand that people really do not care if you are proud to be who you are. We are all proud of who we are...stop trying to prove that you are better than other people or other races. And as far as illegal immigration is concerned I believe if Mexicans were have as proud to Mexicans as they say they are they would fight for their rights in their own country. I guess it is easier to cross the border and demand rights instead of changing the culture withing Mexico, which consists of bribery, dishonesty, and all kinds of corruption on ever level. I had the opportunity to live in Mexico for over 2 years and I have seen it all....and I even have been dating a Mexican girl for over 3 years so please do not tell me that I am racist or that I hate Mexicans, I don't. I' m just tired of everyone feeling sorry for Mexicans....and hearing how hard they work....we all work hard!!! Down deep I love the Mexican people but I know that the majority of Mexicans do not feel the same way about Americans.

There's no way that someone can make a sweeping statement about any group of people and be totally fair and objective, for better or for worse.
In my own experience, however, most of the people of Mexican background I've encountered are hard working, diligent, courteous and honest. Over the years, I've come to a conclusion that Mexicans are far better than most people in this country perceive them to be and that our standard of living would suffer seriously if they were to disappear from our work force.
I certainly have a higher opinion of Mexicans in general than I do of many of our own people, from the white trash to the fat cats.

Thanks so much for your compliments Tom T, Pinelarp and Anoldmick. Im a mexican girl and after reading so much in this site about immigration I was so heart broken cause american seemed to find Mexico and mexicans in a stereotype that was not true. Theres always, of course, the exception of the rule but.. most of Mexico and most of mexicans are just not what it seems to be.
We are hard working and family oriented, warm and home welcoming. we love our culture, our music, language and our traditions. we are proud of ourselves.

I have done Missions work with the people in the interior of Mexico. I have always found them to be hard working people and very family oriented. When working with Mexicans most could outwork me and not be tired when the end of the day came. They have learned how to pace themselves in working; they seem to work slow but they work steadily and accomplish much.
One of the biggest mistakes people, especially Americans, make about the Mexican people is they try to compare the American way of life to the Mexican way of life it cannot be done one must accept their way of living and their standards when in Mexico.
My many friends there would say to me that I was so rich...I would tell them, "No, you are the rich ones because you have close families, it just costs me more to live in America."
Mexicans like all races are wonderful people as long as you accept where they are and not where you are.

I think we rock!!
But seriously, I think for the person that said he went to Texas and they were unfriendly and even hostile.....I think maybe he misinterpreted them. For one, in these days with so many raids, if they were illegal, they probably were scared, and are not very trusting of americans.
We know now not to judge a different ethnic group as a whole by one bad encounter you might have with them.
Andd of course when you speak to someone who english is not their first language, there are bound to be misscommunication or bad interpretations regardless if they're mexican, chinese or whatever the case.

A great people...kind, helpful, hard working, respectful of old folks. The young people are eager to learn, go to college...many English speakers here in Baja and most school age kids are computer literate. Very aware of their ancient culture. I admire the moms and dads who stay together and raise their children in a warm and loving atmosphere.

I think that they should have to go through legal channels to become citizens of the US.
When I went to Corpus Christi, TX, the Mexicans were for the most part unfriendly, even hostile to me. I think that takes a lot of nerve, because I never did any harm to anyone.
If they or anyone else want to come here and be productive, contributing citizens and if they want to be law abiding, I have no problem with that. But if they have a sense of entitlement and only come here to leech off our systems of welfare and medicaid, and other programs, then the fence on the border and troops stationed there looks better and better. Let the Minutemen do their job, too. The Texas Rangers need all the help they can get. Bring the troops home from Iraq, and let them protect OUR borders.
