My father had a VERY bad experience at the US border yesterday trying to get into the US for a business meeting that he attends on a regular basis. The meetings are regarding legitimate products that are imported to the US all the time.

Border patrol stopped him and partner and put in a room for 3 hours while ripping apart their car. Investigated everything including calling the company for the meeting. Even contacted the Federal Department of Commerce who gave an OK but the border patrol said ‘we don’t give a $hit’. They were eventually denied access to the US for no apparent reason but when asked they were told “You are stealing jobs from Americans”

Note: he was professional the whole time.

WHAT!?!

Story gets better as my father tried (meeting important for the deal) to buy a plane ticket and got stopped before he could get on the plane in 40 min…. the US border guy looked at the ticket and saw that it left in 40 min said “I’ll be right back” and came back 40 min later… OMG! ($1400 down the drain for a dink)

Seriously, there was no reason for all of this. My father is an upstanding citizen and has had these legitimate, federally known company business meetings for a long time!

Correct me if I’m wrong… USA steal jobs from Canadians and Canadians steal from the USA and we cross border import/export everything… How should he react to this, or what recourse does he have?

The problem is, most Americans are lazy! I myself am one, and constantly get angered at how lazy my coworkers can be! Nobody is stealing jobs from anyone, but just for the record, does your father look darker-skinned or something? Cause I think he could sue for racial profiling.....

Nobody should be harrassed that way. Americans are getting pretty fed up with so many illegals coming into the US and they are taking many of our jobs and using our tax dollars. Harrassment is never justified though. You father sounds like a middle to upper class person and that is what we need in the US from Mexico. We need the cream of the crop not those that are on the bottom of the totem pole. We just can't support thier childeren and families while they try to get US citizenship and hopefully learn English and how to maintain homes, parks, schools, etc. In other words, become productive members of society in every way..

Just about everyone here hit the nose on the head. Illegals Mexicans are stealing many blue-collar jobs but yes, the greedy employers are also to blame and the government, who does almost nothing to stop it. TYhe illegals and the greedy bosses American bosses are laughing all the way to the bank. .

Any possibility that your father has enemies who have connections? If your father's business is really legitimate, then this should never have happened.
