There is not enough information provided to give you a complete answer. If you are young and have not been having your period for long, it is not unusual to skip a period here and there. You can also skip a period due to stress, eating disorders or excessive exercise. Also, you said you took a pregnancy test but was it a home pregnancy test or a blood test ordered by the doctor? If it was a home test, please call your doctor and get an order for a blood test. Some females will have a negative home test for weeks and still be pregnant...they need the more sensitive blood test to find out they are pregnant.

Usually, when you skip a period and are not pregnant, you skipped because you did not ovulate. Ovulation can be blocked by the things I listed above (stress, eating disorders, excessive exercise, etc). Usually there is no cause for concern if you miss just one. However, if you miss a few in a row and are not pregnant, you should be seeing your gynecologist to find out exactly why.
