Some I've seen are Elmo, Brad Pitt, and others. Help!

To make an avatar, you go to http://avatar.yahoo.com . To use any other photo, you have to create a Yahoo 360 profile (http://360.yahoo.com) and set the photo to your primary photo on there. Then you go into My Q&A here on Answers and choose to use your 360 photo.

There at the instant are no "blankets". what's registered as copyrighted is what you registered as copyrighted, not greater suitable, no much less, no distinct. i'm assuming you advise "registered", not "copyrighted", pondering something you write is in the present day copyrighted the 2d you write it down.
