She is a very good friend of mine, and she wrote me a check for the money she owed but it bounced. She knows it bounced and has mentioned giving me the cash but she keeps putting it off. How do I approach her about paying me back?

the same way they approached you to ask for the money.
because if you don't bring it up, they'll think they can get away with not paying you back.
you were nice enough to lend it ,so why feel bad about telling them it's time to pay up.
especially if its been a while .
maybe they caught selective amnesia......yeah right.

i would straight up say ,i loaned you the money in good favor,
knowing that you would pay me back, and if you need a little more time let me know.
but if your intentions are not to pay ,just know one day you may really need my help again ,and guess what .........you won't get it .

PS. she can't be to much of a GOOD friend if she'll bounce a check on you
if that's a friendship, I've been fooled for a long time.

You don't have to ask her in an abrupt way. I think the most important thing is try not to take it too seriously and maybe even ask her in a jokey way.

I understand how you feel though because I worry about sounding demanding and taking money off someone in case I leave them broke, even if they do owe me!

The way I would do it is just say in a light hearted way, is there any chance of getting that money. Let her know you don't mind her having it but you just need the money right now. Maybe say something like if I wasn't desperate I wouldn't ask or I don't like to ask but I'm short of cash. She knows she's being a bit naughty so don't worry! Also, just remember you're not the one in the wrong here!

I'd go talk to her face to face, and let her know you value her as a friend, and want to continue the friendship, and then tell her that you have a bill that must be paid and you are there to collect the money she owe's you. Be polite, straight forward and blunt.

Be upfront, tell her that you NEED your money back, and you gave her that money believing that it would be returned to you. Don't get angry when you talk to her, be kind, just not a pushover, if you just hint about it and wait for her to give it to you, you might just be waiting forever.

go and tell her politely that you need your money immediately because you have to spend it on something particular( think of something) and tell her that under no circumastances you can wait longer for her to pay you back because you need the money urgently
and after you get your money back dont ever lend her money again

you simply ask her when does she intend on paying, you the money she owes you. she didn't have a problem asking for the loan.
