the best way is just to turn the hold button on each time you turn your iPod on. you can also set the maximum volume limit through the the menu on the iPod.

right, first play a song of your choice,then go back to the main menu, you should see "Settings", click on this, and scroll down a bit
and click on volume limit. This should limit the volume to your chosen level

Highlight the songs in iTunes, right click and go to options, there's a slide volume control there - just wap it up and say OK.

You've gotta normalise them before you put them on there. I believe you can do it on iTunes, but I'm not 100% sure on how.

Keep your eye out for "Normalise".

do you mean altering a uk ipod, which is limited to a set volume because of eu regulations if so
