I know to stay away from my cats litter box but I forgot to ask my Dr. the other day at my appointment. I was going to wait till next week at my next appointment but my back yard is nasty.

Yep...UNFORTUNATELY, you can pick up as much dog poop as you'd like.

Yes, there is just something toxic in a cats feces that doesn't exist in a dog. I had a dog, and a cat , throughout both of my pregnancies, I kept away from my cat (left her to my husband) and took on the responsibility of caring for the dog myself
Good Luck

Yes, it is just the cat poop you have to worry about. To err of the side of caution however, put gloves on and wash your hands really good when you are done.

Why isn't your hubby doing this nasty job???

As the partner of a pregnant woman, I can tell you I do it all. Poop picking, grocery getting, house cleaning, holding the only job in the house! I guess you missed out when you passed me over, cause I do it all, baby!

apparently dog poop is ok, it's cat poop that carries the risk of toxoplasmosis for pregnant women...sorry to rain on your parade! always best to use gloves and a scooper to keep as far from it as possible and thoroughly wash your hands of course afterwards...
good luck

i did an no problems. the cat box, i think, is b/c of the ammonia built up in there and the chemicals used to absorb it and combat the ammonia.

i picked up my dog's poop all the time and never had any issues.

take care:)

Yep you can but remember to wash your hands all the same. I do understand the need to want to clean your backyard as the nesting instincts has set in but stoop to pick and not bend or use long brooms.

Doggie poo is okay....but tell your husband that it's not a good idea for you to go near ANY animal poop while pregnant and let him clean the yard!

Dog poop is okay, but make sure it is from the dog. Any other animal feces can make a pregnant mother and her unborn sick.
