Ewido and spybot Both free or cheap and both realtime. Both also have "immunization" features which prevent certain things from even gaining access to your computer.

Sorry, but none of the programs mentioned actually protect its userbase in TRUE real-time.
There is in fact only one program that exists today that is honestly capable of stating this truthfully - Prevx1.
Every other security program is reliant on signatures that need to be downloaded by the user in order to update its protection capabilities. This means it cannot be classified as "Real-time" as the program is possible of being out of date the minute a new signature is available but not downloaded.
Prevx1 on the other hand works in true real-time. It requires no downloads to protect you against the latest threats and is in effect updated automatically everytime a bad file is determined anywhere in the world. So for example, if I have Prevx1 installed and discover a new virus - Prevx1 will protect me against this, and then automatically stop this from ever running on another computer anywhere in the world which also has Prevx1 installed.
Very clever indeed - and the only TRUE real-time security application.

Microsoft has an anti-spyware program, it is free and protects real time. Go to microsoft.com and search for spyware, since I cannot remember what it is called for the life of me...

Most anti-spyware can protect you in real time nowadays.
If your looking for free software, try SpyBot. If your looking for more commercial software, then go with McAfee.
