As a show of good faith, the police or authorities gave the original tape to his widow and destroyed all copies. It is up to her to destroy the original. I'm sure that this tape is nothing that she wants in her possession, but as peace of mind, she needed to destroy the original herself. An injunction may also be filed so that if any copies suddenly appear and are sold or published, whoever is behind it will face monetary penalties. It is a shame and sad that people lurk around corners waiting to make a profit off of someone elses grief and misfortune.

The tape was stolen from the police (or one of the officers sold it to the tabloids for a huge amount of money) and it has now been copied so many times, it wouldn't matter it the original was destroyed.
And yes, despite all the garbage in print, Steve was killed by the stingray. They do believe, however, had he left the barb in place and not pulled it out (which caused the uncontrollable bleeding that killed him) he might have stood a chance of surviving.

It's very rare that loved ones are allowed the closure of actually seeing the last moments of a life. I'm sure that it was an instrumental part of the mourning and healing process for the family. There will always be a copy in the evidence room no matter what you hear on TV. There are also still shots of his final moments, from the video, already being circulated on the web. It's unfortunate but that particular cat is already out of the bag.
Yes Dorothy, The information age is just as evil as it is good.

The police gave the footage to her as a matter of protocol. I'm sure that the final copy will be destroyed by Steve's family. Nobody should ever see it even in a culture of voyeurism.

The police and his family have the proof. No offense, but I don't think they're really concerned about "proving" anything to anyone else. I'm sure that it will be destroyed. The police gave her the tape as a matter of protocol, and because it's her right to do with it as she wishes.

yes it was a stingray. i am so glad they destroyed all the tapes. there are to many sick people in this world that would get their kicks watching it. it was a horrible tragedy and he sure will be missed. people need to remember him as the fun loving animal guy and not have the image of what happened to him burned into their heads...

sure, i change into shocked after I grew to change into on the television this morning. nicely, can't say i change into "shocked", because what he did change right into a unfavourable career for obvious causes, inspite of the indisputable fact that it remains very unhappy. He had a superb heart and personality. He loved his relatives, it truly is for particular. And he loved practise human beings about animals and organic world verbal replace. RIP, Steve

No-way, thank god they gave it to her and burned the rest, this world is sick nowadays when it comes to death voyeurism. Im sure she'll destroy it.

What a one of a kind belated Christmas present, your very own video of your husband being killed by a stingray. Exactly why she would want it is beyond me but the law is the law.
