I think your question refers to Gerald Ford and his membership in the Masons being completely ignored. George Washington was a Mason and the Lodge he belonged to is one of the striking buildings in Alexandria, outside D.C., where Ford lived for many years. But you are right in thinking that there has always been an air of mystery and suspicion in the mind of the general public about this group. It has its own rituals and initiations, not to be revealed to outsiders. There have always been people who have suspected Masons of forming a closed network and advancing each other's careers secretly. And they had a reputation for being rational about the hallowed truths of religion, constituting almost an alternative religion for thinkers. For these and other reasons, the Ford family and those eulogizing him have seen fit to sweep this aspect of his life under the carpet. ( I am assuming that Ford did belong to the Masons.)

if you are talking about ill. Brother Gerald Ford, there was plenty said about it. all you needed to do was be " in the know " as Masonic services were given.

The Masons always have a Feast of the Holy Saint Johns on December 27th and each Lodge who participates has a " Memorial Toast / Service for the departed Brothers.

the reason there was no Masonic Funeral Service for ill. Brother Ford like most other Masonic Brothers is because either the family or the Brother must request the Memorial Services to be done.

Generally speaking Masonic Memorial Services are not held for Presidents and other Government Officials because the State and Government Services take preference over any Fraternal Order.
