it started about a week ago. i was checking the oil and i noticed that a brown colored fluid seemed to be coming from the top of coolant storage holder. i wiped it up and was on my way. then i found out coolant should be green. it wasn't over heating so i left it off to be looked at by my mechanic. i called them yesterday to look at it today. should have knocked on wood because not even 10 mins after calling it over heats. so i made it to a gas station and put some coolant in it but the weird thing is that it didn't even take a litre and it was full but it still over heats and leaks to what it seems from the top.. would anyone know the problem?? just would like a opinion before i bring it to the machanic..

You popped the cylinder head. The SL1 is known for cylinder head issues, as during forging, towards the fourth journal, the aluminum cooled too much and did not bond correctly to the rest of the cylinder head. You can either replace the cylinder head and flush the cooling system thorougly, get a scrap yard engine, or get rid of the car. I can gaurentee 10:1 that it is not a head gasket and you will be wasting your money to have the head gasket replaced.

When was the last time you had a coolant flush and fill on the car? Get the to pressure test the coolant system.

first the coolant should be reddish in color and is called dexcool. if it is putting coolant out of the resevoir it is probably a bad headgasket and very costly to repair . garage can perform a simple test to see if that is the problem

hi Sean, it somewhat is somewhat no longer common to help considering the fact which you have no longer reported what the priority condition is. i assume it somewhat is working ruff or idling ruff? looks you have looked at most of the easy stuff. you should notice that spark plug wires are in many situations the extreme resistance variety and espresso resistance in those wires will reason complete discharge of the capacitive potential use to fire the plugs. verify to work out what fee they must be and replace them provided that they are exterior of the specification. have you ever checked the timing to work out if the timing belt has slipped or worn? Compression verify to work out if any valves are sticking open? desire this helps, Newton1Law
