And does it weakens your chances of pregnancy?

It is just REALLY uncomfortable. All they are doing is taking a tissue sample. It will not effect your chances for pregnancy at all.

Not really painful. They numb you up first before they start the procedure, and you don't really have many nerve endings on the outside of your cervix anyways. It's mostly just pinchy and creepy because you know in your mind that there are sharp metal instruments poking around down there (and you can feel vague pinching sensations). Also, you will not only have your doctor and an attending nurse poking around "down there", but possibly one or two other people "assisting", who will constantly keep looking you in the face and asking if you are ok every 15 seconds with a concerned look on their faces. This is NOT comforting; it just makes you wonder if there is something wrong that they are not telling you about (everything will probably be just fine).

Don't worry, a cervical biopsy just takes a slightly bigger sample of cells than a pap smear would. I doubt that it has any impact upon pregnancy.

No its not painful . The doctor might tell you to cough when he or she will do the procedure all you will fell is a little pinch and after that you will have some bleeding so make sure you take a pad not a tampon!!! They do these cervical biopsy's to make sure you don't have any cancers or a STD.

On the other question will it weaken your chances of pregnacy ? IT depends on what he or she finds on the biopsy!!!! Good luck

Having a cervical biopsy causes just a small amount of pain (it feels like a very brief "pinching" sensation) but is over with quickly. I had one several years ago after an abnormal pap smear. The results came back "precancerous" and I then had an operation called LEEP done. I didn't know it then, but I was a few weeks pregnant when the LEEP was done. I was very scared I would lose the baby, but I continued on with a healthy pregnancy and baby. I have only had normal pap smears since the surgery and got pregnant again two years after my daughter was born. You CAN have children after these types of procedures. Just make sure you have a very competent doctor who does these biopsies on a regular basis and get all of the information you can beforehand! Good luck and don't worry....you'll be fine!

Not much a little pinch and a bit of discomfort. A cramp or two and then you're done. They squirt some stuff on your cervix once they have your vagina open and they have a wee camera there connected to a tv so the audience (nurses, doctor and your support person) can watch. It's especially glamorous when they pull the camera away slightly at the end without turning the tv off first. Lovely darling!! No but seriously it is ok and that is all the gripe I have about it. Definitely does not weaken your chances of having a baby. No effect.

Never heard of a "punch" but I had a cervical biopsy before and it's just like bad cramps. You may want to take a Motrin about an hour before or talk to your Dr about a valium.

I had this done and I had a Leep procedure done(where they shave off a layer of cervix to get rid of abnormal cells). They put in a spray or something that froze the cervix so I didn't feel a thing.

Oh, and I was pregnant just a few weeks after! And have had even another child since!

Good luck!

Yes, you will feel a slight pinch and will start to cramp once they take the tissue sample from your cervix. It will not weaken your chances of pregnancy.

Not at all - it's a little pinch, but nothing to be scared of. There's no lasting pain thereafter. And like the other answerer said, it should strengthen your chances of pregnancy.
