The Approach to Latin (available Blackwells online)
Best I have ever come across. Old fashioned, written in 1970's but clear, and give the hard stuff not just fudging through.

I actually own "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Learning Latin;" I bought it when I was taking Latin in college (which I loathed!). It's by Natalie Harwood, published by Alpha Books, and runs between $14 - $19 dollars. Good luck!

Learn Latin by Peter Jones is good. There were weekly articles by him in the Telegraph a few years ago which were very easy to understand, and I think the book is a sort of compilation of all of them. Much more fun than any of the Latin books we had at school anyway. If yo just want to know the meaning of lots of Latin phrases then the Oxford Foreign Words and Phrases is also a very good reference book.

Latin for dummies. I work in a bookshop. Harry Potter (first book) is available in Latin and sells well!
