can you think of a reasson why a disorder causing severe illness or death may not appear on the Ychromosome ?

I'm guessing the issue is that alleles on the Y chromosome are going to be dominant due to no corresponding allele to interact with since there is only 1 y chromosome.

In essence, you wouldn't have a carrier state, you'd either have the affliction or not, and depending on its severity it would be strongly selected against.

That's my guess anyhow.

The only reason I can think is that, if this question refers to a recessive genotype found on the X chromosome which doesn't have a locus on the Y chromosome.

Possibly because the Y chromosome has relatively few genes to express anything; good or bad.
