Why do you have to frame your question in terms of liberal versus conservative? Most politicians have speech writers, and there's nothing wrong with that. Leaders have to have a theme and a vision that they can communicate to their speech writers, and most politicians aren't going to just rip and read a speech. The speech will be honed and refined so the politician can deliver the speech knowing that the ideas are his, even if the exact words aren't.

The best leaders are able to project a vision and optimism that can transcend party lines. John Kennedy had it, and Ronald Reagan had it. Barack Obama is making all the right noises to show that he has it too.

Obama is one of the front runners for the Democratic nomination for the Presidency. So naturally, the press is going to tell everybody that he does everything perfect. It's simply a case of kissing butt. No he doesn't write his own speeches, he is articulate however.

Just as most Presidents don't write their own speeches, Obama isn't writing his own. Yes, he's being praised for following the script and articulating well, just like Bush gets praised for making the evangelicals happy by dancing on their puppet strings. Politics is just a dog and pony show, smoke, mirrors, and general obfuscation.

Do you really think any politicians write their own material? Of course not. They have a general guideline of what they want to cover, and then it is the speech writer's job to put it all together. Yes, Obama articulates well, but he also happens to be very intelligent.
The President, on the other hand, has top-notch speech writers working for him 24/7 and he still looks like an idiot.

Articulation helps. Intelligence helps more.

Whatever Obama does at this point he's still a big question mark.
Do you remember when Dean and Kerry were considered viable candidates?

I am not sure what college you attended, but you asked a question regarding giving a speech, but then you question it by changing your subject to writing.
