Why do we judge by what a person "is" not what a person "does"?
This guy, Keith Elisson, is a Muslim, but I don't think he is "too" Muslim. The guy is pro- gay right in marriage. I mean c'mon. It is only about politics.
Even more!! I am not talking about Keith only. We tend to be very happy because people "are " Muslims. We don't care about what those people "do"
An illustration of this is the fact most simple people trust guys who "are" bearded and call them Sheikhs. On the other hand we never bother to stop and obsereve what they "do" and find out if they are sheikhs or not.Don't misunderstand me here. I am bearded and I Muslims and I get called "sheikh" many times, I don't have anything against that at all, but I would love for it to be done for the right reasons.
Another example is how much we give so much care for outfits and artifical appearances rather than waiting to see what those people can do.

I agree with you that the moderates should openly declare their oppostion to what the extremests do. Unfortunately I hear that all the time from westerners and I only have one question for them:Does anyone bother to follow the Arabic and middle-eastern media to know what we think about that?

Bernadette.
Hi , I wasn't asking about anything. Just my glasses. Have you seen my glasses? I can't read without them. They are red and fluffy and they answer when you call them "jojo"

I agree with you.
Thank God that only 13% of Muslims are extremist.

And I would like to add few things:
- It’s more like the culture or the custom of each Arab country that is managing their behavior toward each other and other Arabs; more than the religion. Politics and emotions are controlling Arabs 10 times more than Islam.
- Anyone who watch the news from an American point of view, think of all Arabs the same bad way. I read some offensive questions/answers on Yahoo about Arabs that is totally unfair.
- The bad part is the execution videos that we watched at the beginning of the war. They read chapters from the holy Quran when they are about to execute a hostage.
- The viewers will relate Islam to violence and killing. Which lead to labeling all Muslims as killers and murderers.

I think the real conflict here is not between Non Muslim and Muslims, but the unresolved social and political issues between Muslims themselves.
- And the fact is Millions of Muslims want to live in peace and harmony just like any other nation.

I am half Egyptian and i agree that it's human nature to "Judge someone before you get to know them" I,myself can't help doing that. I live in England, and i always make sure my legs and mid-section are covered as my dad would never let me out the house if i wore a mini skirt and belly top. When i see girls walk in the street in this country wearing a mini-skirt i immediately think they are a tart and try to hard to impress (no offence to people who wear short stuff here) but once i get to know them their personality is the total opposite from what i thought. People buy designer clothes because they want to be "in" with the fashion and cool. In my eyes, if you want to be call it's all about having your own style!

I can tell you this. During the Gulf war the daughter of King Hussein asked who the bad guys are and her father said, "Just watch out for the ones with beards, be afraid of them." I think that was good advice!

i know very little about egyptians, but i can tell you as an american that its not just the people around you. it's human nature to judge people, for better or for worse, based on what they look like and not what they do. for whatever reason, outward appearances highly affect the way that people see you. it's not a good thing in any way, but since when has that stopped human nature?

You might not care what the bearded people do, but we non-believers as you call us do, because they are killing us in the name of Allah, and you, the moderate ones should stand up and openly condemn their atrocious actions.
