I am 22 years old and have had recurring UTI's since I was about 2 years old. The doctors have tried ultrasounds and a whole bunch of other tests. They find nothing wrong with me physically and can't figure out why I have these uti's. I keep myself clean at all time (wipe from front to back), I don't douche with anything but water as told, and I am not a highly sexually active person. Does anyone know why this is happening? I honestly think there is something more my doctor can test me with...but I think the healthcare is very cheap.

Also, I drink lots of water, cranberry juice. I am seeing a couple specialists. I always go to the bathroom before and after intercourse. Trust me, I have done EVERYTHING I was told to do since I was a young child. Its all habit now. Plus antibiotics. I am just wondering if there are other tests that can help. I have 20 years experience with hygiene and all that other stuff, I need answers about tests.

OKAY...I am allergic to ALL antibiotics except cipro-floxacin..which happens to be a very strong medication, so I am not allowed to take that every day...as I do react to that med as well.

u may have sort of congenital immune deficiency.(b-cell deficiency or complement def.)
i think u should perform immune tests to rule this out.

Why are you douching with water? That's not a good idea at all. Water doesn't clean you. That needs to be addressed with an obgyn.
Let me tell you what you can do to maybe lessen the uti's.
You can buy cranberry pills over the counter and take those 2 or 3 times a day or you can drink cranberry juice. You know to keep yourself hydrated and plenty of fluids in general is a good idea.
Maybe you should talk with your doctor about putting you on macrodantin or macro-bid for a long period of time. I treat a lot of people with reoccurring uti's and we do this all of the time with the medications if nothing else seems to work.
Another good drug is anything with sulfur such as gantrisin, it's an old one but it works, and bactrim. Bactrim is a newer drug and it works also.
Hope this helps

some women seem o be more prone because of their anatomy.
Others get a chronic, recurring condition that is called interstitial cystitis. If this is the cause, it can be treated over a course of time with bladder installations. Sounds awful, but it really works.
Things to help include making cranberry juice part of your daily diet, or buying cranberry pills at a health food store.
I wish you the best with this difficult problem.

my daughter suffers from uti on a regular basis I'm in the same predicament with the health pro's i give her cranberry juice to help clear it up. this has seamed to control it somewhat and regular intake of the juice has seemed to slow them down. the cranberry juice seems to counteract the uti and the drs now don't put her constantly on antibiotics which is an upside. if your not satisfied with your Dr's prognosis then maybe try another Dr maybe a specialist good luck

That is strange. It makes me wonder what's going on with your doctor- or doctors.
You could try drinking cranberry juice and extra water: Cranberry juice is supposed to be good for dealing with bladder and kidney infections. And research has shown that it might even be beneficial in taming e. coli. And water is better for you than soda, for instance.
Good luck!

You should go see a urologist since they specialize in this.
I think the old cranberry juice thing may be an old wives tale but it couldn't hurt to drink some every day.

Go to a homeopath and they should be able to find something for you. Or it could be that you have a fallen bladder. A woman I work with had a big problem with utis and incontinence and found she had a space between her bladder and her pubic bone where her bladder had fallen and she would hold water and get constant utis as a result. She had to have mesh put in that space and she hasnt had problems since. Good luck to you.

When you are sexually active be sure and go to bathroom afterwards, sometimes one can be put on one dose a night of an antibiotic for a long period of time to stop recurring infections....I went thru that and it worked.
Go to another urologist and get 2nd opinion if you need to or ask your family doctor.
