Im looking for a romantic getaway for around 4 days abroad in November 2007, somewhere different but not too expensive either, I don't want to go to the usual commericalised places but somewhere where you still get about but has historic places to see, maybe somewhere with snow or just a winterbreak any suggestions?

Scotland is beautiful and no doubt there may be some snow around in the Cairngorms as there is a ski resort there.

Napa Wine Valley (do a splash diagnosis on the terrific wine mattress and breakfast places) large Sur (Hwy a million halfway between SF and la, beutiful place to choose for a romantic getaway, examine the Ragged factor hotel) you may get a intense-high quality beach view room with a hearth Pt Reyes (marin county) relatively some oysters, attractive resorts, seashores, and so on.

Kerry, Ireland.
Hire a car. The whole Ring of Kerry is breath-taking (think New Zealand landscape). There are cliff walks, castles etc. Stay in Dingle (Marina B&B, £40 for the room .p.n). I remember waking up, looking across the bay and thinking it was just perfect.
pubs/restaurants are cheap n chearful n rustic.
Most B&B are £40 per night for the room. Flights from Stanstead to Kerry are cheap (we paid £30 for the 2 of us). Car hire can be expensive, so check who has the best deal.
Have fun

I strongly recommend you try Valencia in Spain. A stunningly beautiful city with historic buildings, friendly people, rich culture and history. Excellent food and lots of things to do. Very reasonably priced air tickets through jet2.com and hotels are also well priced.
Absolutely nothing at all to do with the 'tourist' perception of Spain as acquired on the beaches of places like Benidorm. Valencia city is a vibrant, modern city steeped in culture and history. Wide avenues with restaurants offering exciting dishes, fantastic shopping, museums, festivals, old city cathedral, markets, one of the best football teams in the world :-) and lots more!
