It's a big 'no no' to bring maritial problems to the whole family. She may or may not forgive him, but her family will never for give him nor look at him the same. Once she told the family he was cheating in stead of working it out with him in private she pretty much destroyed the marriage.

If she goes through with this, she can write off the marriage. That kind of Humiliation will destroy this marriage, nothing will fix it.
When who act this way, are selfish and considered by many to be castrating bi*tches.
Although Cheating is harmful to all involved, this apologizing in front of the family is worse and more emotionally devastating to the cheater.

No. i do no longer think of I surely have ever cried in front of them. no rely how disenchanted i'm or notwithstanding, it feels impossible yet then as quickly as i'm in a room far flung from them, the tears merely come flooding out.. I surely have cried in front of pals some circumstances nonetheless yet it is on condition that issues get too undesirable that i won't be in a position to hold them in from now on. I hate it nonetheless because of the fact I cry each and every of the time while there is no one around..

The family already knows that he is cheating. The point is, like the marriage vows in public, to make him promise to stop.
Why are you defending him? Did you cheat and are afraid a public apology may be asked of you? She was humiliated in public, let him apologize in public. And I say this as a man.

she wants him humiliated just as she was when she found out, again.usually the cheater knowing all the family knows is enough to make them squirm in their company but as you say,,this is ridiculous,,she is going to mend nothing doing this and she could end up stood there alone when he ups and leaves right then, this is between him and her,no one else can help save their marriage but them and making rash decisions that will cause humiliation and pain wont help one bit.she is entitled to be hurt but there are ways to express it,if she doesnt want him back so be it but if she does,in her heart of hearts, she may want help in rethinking this crazy idea,,he may never forgive her as there is no going back, their relationship will always be public scrutiny and anyone who feels the need to interfere will think it is their right as they were invited in.

Sheeeesh, wonder whatever made the fellow "cheat" in the first place.
She needs a big heaping spoonful of her own self.
I wonder if she is going to start the "honesty" by telling everyone how many times he made overtures to her for sex that were spurned?

What a bitter woman. Sounds like she wants him to hurt as much as she is. He doesn't have a chance, she will divorce him anyway. This is a real High School scenario, what a circus. If she asks you your opinion, say just what you said here, it's perfect...

All those people already know what he does. She is the last to know or acknowledge. And they have probably covered up for him over the years. Let him apologize in public.

My mother-in-law did this to my father-in-law. When she was the one that actually had an affair. She made him tell their kids that he had an affair, making him believe that if he admitted it to them then she would stay. I think it was a selfish act on her part. To me it just made her affair justifiable.

He messed up , but it's between her and him! If the family want to stand by her if she stays with them then ok, but if they are telling her to do this and then leave him, thats wrong!!! They sound like they are up to something!! warn him!!!!
