Peugeot 307. The remote central locking fob isnt working! Have been told i can only take it to a Peugeot dealership for batteries to be changed! True or false?

if i can purchase the batteries from somewhere else, where and how much roughly?

Car will open through pressing button on fob, but i have to lock with key on drivers door,(button wont work) is it just the batteries or is there another problem for me

Thanks in advancex

This is a famous Peugeot problem you can get the batteries anywhere they are around £2 each and I think you need two I would try replacing both batteries first before worrying about anything else. But if you still have the locking problem after that then its a problem with the sensor or electrics and well I hope its just the batteries because you could be out alot of money and so soon after Xmas. Hope this has helped and don't worry too much about it just means using the key for a while. Try getting someone u know to do the work for u if needed as you will pay a fortune if going through the dealer.

Ok if your key is the same as the one on my 306 then you can do the following -
go to www.batteryforce.co.uk and pick up 2 CR2032 batteries for as little as 88p each.
Secondly as long as you have a secondary key for your car you can program it your self!
- Using the second key turn the ignition to the accessories stage (first click)
- Then hold the key you wish to program up to the interior light as this is generally where the receiver is located.
- Press the large central locking button on the key and wait 5 seconds followed by the small deadlock button if this exsists on your key & wait a further 5 seconds.
- Finally remove the other key, close the door and hopefully success!
I had to do this for one of my keys and it worked first time, although i had the same problem with another key and replacing the batteries worked. btw to replace the batteries you should remove the single screw and then prise the key open, be sure to replace the screw as this holds the silver part in!! sorry for the lenght of this post!

anyone can change the batteries but as suggested if it will open with fob then very unlikely the batteries sounds like youve got a duff fob, try taking outer casing off (just undo the screw and prize two halves apart theres a gap at the back that you can get acoin in) you will see two little button switches just make sure theres nothing jammed ,try pressing the button without the fob around it. if it still dont work its most likely a duff fob.

If you can open but not lock, it sounds as thought it would be more than the battery. Get it checked out by a Peugeot Dealer.
