depends - on type of tree, date cut, not date bought, if you still light it up, what the temperture and humidity and air movement of envirornment (inside house) is, and, if alien, probably it depends on whether it is waiting for its appitite to reach the devour earth stage before it transforms, or/and depends on how long he-she-it stays infatuated with your buns before he-she-it moves on to devour the world and all in it. Alert the Japaneese. They are good at monster eliminations.

Be careful - I burnt an old Christmas tree outdoors in my fire pit last summer and the flames roared up to a dismaying height. Leave LOTS of room to the sides as well.
They make an inferno for about 5 full minutes, which is well long enough if you are watching the top branches of your full grown maple trees shrivel up and get dry from the heat...

Keep a hose nearby with a spray that can reach anything you hold dear, is my advice. And keep far away once it is lit.

The tree may look fine, but caution. Although the tree looks as if it is still fresh, you need to keep fire away from it. Looks can be deceiving, and all it takes is one small spark to get it going. The tree doesn't have that much water circulating to the pine leaves. Dispose of the tree as fast as possible to prevent problems, or start watering it again until you dispose of it. I sparked up two decent sized branches in a fire place, and nearly burned down the house. The flames got intense fast and almost got away from my control, those branches from the tree were also 2 to 3 weeks with out water.
