On Boxing day, we invited family & friends to our place for a gathering.
As the evening went on i couldn't find my mobile phone, so i started to look for it.
I even stopped the music and told our guests to be quiet, but i couldn't hear a thing and i know my phone was not on silent.
Cut along story short, my stepsons ex girlfriend and mother of his child stole my phone. When she arrived she informed us that her phone was stolen and didn't have a phone for the past few days.
And just as she was getting ready to leave is when noticed my phone missing.
Our friend that gave her a lift home that day.
2 days later he informed us that he noticed her with a phone in his car and cause he has the same model as me, he recgnised it.
We fed her and her kids for the day, gave them gifts and money.
I have really thick skin but this has really affected me, i don't care if i don't get da phone back. But i can't let her get away with this.
My girl told me forget it, What should i do???

Hi, i would go mental im afraid i would have gone up to her and said can i have a look at your moblie for a moment, not accusing her, just wanting to see it, you will will tell if its yours or not if you still got the box for the phone and the phone number because you could confront her and look at the details underneath the battery and then you will check in the book and if the correspond then there is no way she can get away with it. Have you tried ringing the phone and seeing if anyone has answered. You can always report the phone stolen and it will be blocked. The best thing to do in future keep your phone with you. Even though its family you cant trust everyone especially ex s. She probably took yours coz she didnt have one.
Its happend to my brother before he left his phone at his mate house and the next day it had gone, and when we rang the number a women answered and we told her it was our phone and she just hung up.
Just treat your self to s decent phone and then keep it one you at all times, Or put a pin lock on it but dont forget the code or you wont be able to get in it. But known people like your stepsons ex they will know how to get into the phine anyway,.

Contact the phone company and put a block on the phone if you still have the details. You should have called the police. You cannot forget theft. Never have her in your house again. If other people have a problem that you take it further shame on them This girl is a common thief with no respect, and needs to be taught a lesson in acceptable behaviour.

Yes it is a situation that would infuriate anyone, but you say she is the ex and also mother of your stepson's child. It seems to me she felt right in taking this as in her mind, you and yours owe her. Let her have the phone, she prob knows you know anyway. She really has done herself out of something here, and it is her that has come away the loser. She will be aware in the future of you feeling uncomfortable with her in the house and your changed stance with her. If you do this effectively enough it wouldn't surprise me if the phone "mysteriously" reappeared.

You need to confront her stealing from anyone especially your own friends is showing lack of dis-respect even when you have fed them bought them gifts. There just laughing at you they might aswell stick there middle finger up harsh i know but its the truth and you need to put it all in perspective. Am sure if it happened to them the'd be quick enough to speak their minds and confront the person. The longer you leave it the worse and harder it will become for you to confront them. If you don't say anything now who knows what else they will take next and they probably think they can get away with it each time.
Good Luck

Confront her about the phone. You should have a serial number somewhere of your phone, if you don't confront her she's liable to steal something else.
People are generally selfish these days. They don't care how they inconvienience others. I wouldn't let her get away with this at all.
Theft is theft plain and simple. Get the phone back from her.

If it doesn't affect your relationship with your girl, then you should call the guilty person and inquire if she had by any chance taken your phone, intentionally or unintentionally. She will naturally deny it, but at least she will know that you know and will keep her distance in future. Which is a good thing.

she knew the phone wasnt hers so technically she stole it,i wouldnt care what came back to me,i would call your network and have the phone cut off,i would also let her know you know she has it then i would not allow her back in your house.
I understand you want to see your grand-children but you also have to lay the law down and if that means seeing the kids out of your home then so be it.
I certainly wouldnt let this thief back in my home, especially since she can steal so easily and infront of everyone

if you don't get the phone back, she will just keep stealing when she wants something.
tell her ppl saw her take it and if she doesn't give it back and get help for her habit, you will involve the police, which would consequently involve her kids in this mess.
maybe she only did it cos she was drunk or maybe she is just bad. either way, letting her get away with it is not constructive for either of you.

you need to confront her. she's not your family and is only your stepson's EX so who cares if feelings are hurt- she started it anyways. that's just a shame to steal from ppl who treat you good. i hope you do get your phone back plus an apology!
