No player in the history of the NBA was more over-hyped than Jordan, thats why.

You couldn't turn on the TV in the 1990's and not see Michael Jordan doing something, even if it had no outcome on the game.

Plus all the endorsement deals he made, he was always doing some commercials.

Karl Malone just quietly played good basketball, so he didn't get the attention Jordan did.

Malone is a good scorer (very efficient), and even won 2 MVP awards...but simply put, Malone never won a single title his teams were normally not good enough..the Jazz would lose to the Lakers in 1988 (west Semis), to the Rockets in both 1994 (Western Final) and 1995 (First Round), to the Sonics in 1996 (Western Final), and to the Bulls in 1997 and 1998 in the Finals, and even when he tried to bum a championship with the Lakers, they would still lose to the Pistons in 2004...losing has become too much apart of Malone's career..

First of all, big men never get the same credit as gaurds for whatever reason.

Secondly, when Jordan won alot of those championships, it was against him, and losing that many gives you a losing name (see Buffalo Bills early 1990's)

Third, Jordan was a media machine, he globalized the NBA

Lastly, While I inclue Malone in the upper echelon of NBA players, nobody plays ball like Mike

6 rings can overshadow any scoring record. maybe if Karl played in a different lifetime. Just like John Stockton, he holds the ASSIST RECORD, But MAGIC JOHNSON is more credited....

I don't know a lot about basketball but I've heard my husband and his friends comment that Karl Malone was a "crybaby". He complained about everything.

Maybe that's one reason why.

Because Karl doesn't have any championships. In the league, it's all about titles, not points. Kareem has more points than anybody, and they never talk about him, although Kareen does have championships, but he doesn't have the personality.

JORDAN IS THE GREATEST SHOOTING GUARD EVER. JORDAN WON 6 TITLES. 2 OF THEM HEAD-TO-HEAD AGAINST MALONE.

K. MALONE IS THE 3RD GREATEST POWER FORWARD EVER. MALONE DIDN'T WIN ANY.
