This is a work laptop, if i can login by unplugging the network cable using my cached credentials and once in can plug the cable back in and accesss the internet, but when logging onto the domain with the cable in, it freezes.

I would recommend flushing your dns and make sure your IP is set to DHCP if you have a DHCP server at work. If it doesnt help, have you IT crew check your account.

Has it ever worked before? You might be using a roaming profile or a roaming profile is set and it cant retrieve or is taking a long time to get your settings from the server at your work.. Look at your user settings, Im not so up to date on domains yet, thats next after MCP, so sorry this doesnt help a whole lot, but maybe it will be a start..

release and renew your ip you should be fine.
