Yes Catalonia is a nation in every meaningful way. They have their own language, distinct instutions and even diustinct status within the Kingdom of Spain.

At some period of history, Catalonia has been more clearly a nation-state, but that definition is becoming meaningless in modern Europe, anyway.

Catalunia is as much a nation as Wales, Greenland andHong Kong.
Being one of 18 autonomous regions that mnake up the federation of Spain, it has the right to do a lot of stuff that is normally done on the national level, but as of yet, although it has its own language that is used alongside Spanish Catalan, it has not been offered full independence by Spain, nor has it made an armed forces of its own.

If it were to be given a referendum on independence, it would probably vote yes (as would the Basque Country), and many the northern and Eastern Regions might vote to either join them or to go independent too, including Valencia, Aragon and the Balearic Islands which are all part Catalan too.

Catalonia is not a nation, politically speaking. It is an autonomous region within Spain, with limited self-government.

Historically speaking, you might consider it a nation: Catalonians have a strong sense of belonging to a common denominator, of common history, common language and common ( mild ) domination by Castilia, i.e. mainstream Spain.

Catalonian is officially recognized as a language by the European Union.

Catalunia is not a nation.... it is part of Espana....The Basque Country should be a separate nation because of what Franco let Hitler do to his people in Guernica, during world war 2..... he let Hitler try out their bombs on the Basques....
