m baby girl is little bitty; 25 inches long and 13.5 lbs, she weighed 6 14 at birth she is chubby in all the right places and looks perfect to me but is just now able to wear 3-6 mth clothing and a lot of that is still to big. I thought the stores were making clothes too big, but when i started asking around and questioning that i realized that the opposite is true for most people. Please comfort me and let me know if your baby is little too!! as far as development goes she is right on schedule

Mine too! My baby is 4 months, and she is almost out of newborn sizes (slightly smaller than 0-3 months). My daughter is 10 ponds, 10 ounces, and she is 22 1/2 inches long. She was born a little smaller than yours, at 5 pounds 7 ounces. My baby is solidly in the 3rd percentile on the growth chart - the Dr. said, "SOMEBODY has to be in the 3rd percentile, as long as she is growing proportionally, there is no need to worry."

I just checked out the growth chart, and your daughter is in the 25th percintile for both weight and height. So don't worry! Here is the link to a growth chart you can download:

As long as your Dr. thinks she's in an acceptable size/ weight range, I wouldn't worry about it. 6-7 lbs is a perfectly acceptable weight for birth, so she's a little petite! that means that she can wear clothes for a little longer than most babies - you spend less on buying new things more often! I think that's a good thing. Besides, some kids are HUGE these days!

If your baby is growing and not losing weight and keeping up with her peers in development, don't worry about how big she is. It sounds like you're doing everything right.

just because she's little doesn't mean there's something wrong with her. The main concern is her growth pattern. Is she staying consistent on the chart when you take her for her regular pediatrician visits (For example, was she 50th percentile weight and 50th percentile height when she was born, and at the rate she's growing, she's staying right at that percentile, or is she all over the chart, and now is way down to the 10th percentile in weight, etc.?) As long as she's thriving and developing normally mentally and her pediatrician is content with her health, you shouldn't worry. Babies come in all shapes and sizes, and you have to remember--small doesn't necessarily mean unhealthy--it just means small. :) The same thing could be said for large babies. Both my sons were born over 8 lb. and continue to be in the 90th and above percentile. I was terrified that they were fat, would grow up fat, etc., and this just isn't the case. They're just large-framed, sturdy guys. :) I know your baby is fine, so don't worry!

P.S. I prefer the tiny ones anyway. My nephew was born about the size of your daughter and he was also small as an infant. I loved holding him--he was like a feather. With my two, they're both so big, I'm waiting to throw my back out lifting them. LOL

One of my twins wore 3-6 months after her first birthday. At two she was only 19 pounds! Her doctor was so worried she ordered a cat scan, spinal tap, EKG, bone density and a bunch of other tests. Everything was normal. She is just tiny. She is going to be 5 in a couple of weeks and still wears a 3T. Her growth projection puts her at 4' 11" and 95 lbs as full grown. Her twin is projected to be 5'6" and 115 pounds! They look like they are totally different ages and not even twins. Developmentally she is far above her peers. She is beginning to read and can already add and subtract and is beginning to multiply even. Development is much more important than size. Everything will be fine.

No worries, my kids are both "tiny" LOL

My little girl is 4 months old and weighs 12lbs 5oz. and most 3-6 months clothes are huge on her. She's in the 90th percentile in height and the 25th for weight! So I guess she's just tall and skinny LOL.

My son is now 4 years old and was the same way as a baby (LOTS over overalls...the only thing that stayed up LOL) and he's still that way, he wears a 4T b/c he has long legs but they fall right off his butt, so we have to buy adjustable waistband pants or slims.

SO, don't worry, she's just fine as long as she continues to grow a little bit at each check up...she's just petite :)

My kids aren't little but then, neither is their dad. Just take a look at yourself and your husband. Both of you are likely petite. Your daughter is moving along great, she's more than doubled her birthweight, which is a sign of a very healthy baby. She is not abnormal and will not stand out in a crowd. Don't worry, your daughter is perfect. If you continue basing your daughters size and development on other babies, you will find yourself sadly disappointed as all babies move along according to their own schedule. Enjoy her while she's small because believe me, it won't last long.
Good Luck

New moms worry alot about everything. Relax. My son has always been small, he was 5lbs 15.9 at birth. My husband is tall and skinny. I am very small. He turned 3 in August and was wearing 18mth and 2T clothes. Now he is wearing few 3Tand 2T. Once clothes fit his waist, they get to short. He is very, very smart. As long as developement is ok and baby girl is happy, don't worry. You will have another well baby check at 18 months. You can talk to DR. if you still are concerned.

As long as her pediatrician thinks that her development is within normal parameters, you needn't worry. Many people have small children who are in between sizes. Some newborns are so big that can't fit in newborn clothes or diapers. You're baby sounds healthy and you sound very happy with her. Enjoy your daughter and don't worry mom.

My daughter was 8lbs 11ozs when she was born. But ever since she has been petite. She is 5 now and only weighs 39 lbs. Where as my godson is 3 and weighs 51lbs. If the doctor says everything is fine, don't worry.

Oh hon dont worry your baby is well within normal means. I had one child real small like that and one that was way big for her age. They are both the same size now.
