2) keep it away

**Just for the record its a really nice simple thing that i reallly like not some tacky gift shop piece of crap

Leather needs to be treated and what you did is add moisture to it, which is a no-no. Stop wearing it for a while and let it "air" out. If you can, put it in the sun to dry it out. When the smell leaves completely, take some mink oil(this has a slight oil smell) or petroleum jelly(no smell) and rub it into the leather. Not only will it soften the leather, it will waterproof it.

The leather smells because you keep getting it wet and it wasn't treated with a sealant before you did that. It's actually starting to rot. At this point, there's nothing you can do to stop that. Drying it out will only lessen the smell, but as soon as its wet again ... even if it's just from sweating a little bit, the decaying process will resume and you'll be able to smell it again. If you really value the bracelet, stop wearing it. In the future, treat the leather BEFORE wearing it in water.

Maybe you could try some leather cleaner and conditioner sold in the automotive section at Wal-Mart, or wherever you shop. Maybe some Frebreeze, sold in the laundry aisle. That stuff is pretty good for all kinds of smells.

I had the same problem with a leather strap watch, I am very active and I would never take it off. I started smelling a nasty odor coming from it and then I took it off and I washed it with some soap and water, it pretty much came off. My wrist was stinking as well.
