Do the following:
1. Connect your iPod to your computer.
2. Open your iTunes.
3. You should see a icon of your iPod, on the left side of the window.
4. Go to your library and select the first song. Then press shift and click on the last song. Once that is done, all the songs should be highlighted in dark blue.
5. Drag and drop1 song to your iPod icon. Once that is done, let it take time to transfer, and especially dont disconnect it.
6. When the songs are transferred completely, you can disconnect it.
7. You can plug in your earphones and hear the songs. Good luck.

to maintain the songs do no longer sync your IPod to the hot laptop, you will would desire to purchase music off ITunes on your IPod manually. you may't sync the IPod to 2 desktops. wish I helped!

You may have to restore it. You might want to try to call the manufactor and as then what is up with it.

I had an ipod once and had alot of issues with the hardware had to be restored.

Good luck,
